Mobile bingo is just the next step for an industry that has regularly used technology in the past, according to the Bingo Association (BA).
Technology is important to the bingo industry as shown by various developments throughout the years, it has been suggested.According to the BA's communications manager Stephen Baldwin, a "big part" of the numbers game has always been the technical equipment it utilises.
Touchscreens, electronic ticket minders and online bingo show the game's link with technological advancement, Mr Baldwin stated.
"Bingo has always been fairly closely aligned to technology," he explained. "Technology has always been fairly to the forefront of bingo."
Numbers game website BingoPort reported earlier this year that the average daily number of online bingo players grew by 19 per cent over a six-month period up to March 2008.
According to the website, this could be attributed to an increase in extensive marketing campaigns by the major gambling firms.
