Bookmaker Claims Horse Racing Is Still Big Betting Market

Horses - still heavily backed at bookies

William Hill spokesperson has said that other sports betting options have not diminished punts on horse racing.

Horse racing is still an important market in the sports betting industry, according to William Hill spokesperson Jennie Prest.

The bookmaker's representative has claimed that horse racing remains one of William Hill's core products and is expected to do so for a "long while" yet.

And despite many other markets being established in recent years, such as in-play football and reality television betting, horse racing is still a popular choice with punters in the UK.

"I would say that the market share will have gone down because there are so many products compared to 20 years ago when all you could bet on were horses and dogs," Ms Prest commented.

However, in terms of the money William Hill takes on the sport, horse racing still "holds its own", she added.
