Attitudes towards gambling will be one of the issues investigated in a new study by the Gambling Commission. In a statement this week, the regulator announced that it will be soon be starting work on its third British Gambling Prevalence Survey, using previous findings to help undertake new research.
Similar studies have been published by the commission in 1999 and 2007, which offer a nationally-representative look at the gambling landscape.
The different types of betting will be analysed, as will the subject of problem gambling in the UK.
In addition, the research team will look into the socio-demographic and provide comparisons of the industry before and after the Gambling Act of 2005.
It was following this legislation that the Gambling Commission took over from the Gaming Board for Great Britain in regulating casinos, bingo, gaming machines and lotteries in the country.
