Most-Popular Races For Betting Revealed

Sports betting company spokesperson reveals what events the public like to stake their money on.

Large horse racing events such as the Grand National and the Cheltenham Festival provide the sport's biggest betting markets, it has been claimed.

Jennie Prest, spokesperson for bookmaker William Hill, has said that punters find these annual meetings "terrific" due to the prestige of some of the races held within them.

The Gold Cup, the Champions Trophy and the Champions Hurdle are three of the big races that take place during the latter festival, providing consumers with a number of betting options.

Still on the subject of which events are popular for sports betting, Ms Prest added: "With other races it just depends on certain considerations, such as whether it's a competitive race or whether there's a hot favourite that nobody thinks is beatable."

Last week, the flat racing industry announced plans for a new competition that will crown the champion British racehorse of the year, which is likely to create another set of UK betting markets.
