Could a casino be the answer to the question of how to develop the St Annes seafront?
Fylde council has released a list of ideas relating to how St Annes seafront can be developed - and a new casino is one of the proposals.RPS, the company which has been set the task of working out what to develop the town's Island leisure complex into, has indicated that there has been interest in operating a casino in the area.
The Blackpool Gazette reports that a golfing museum, a bowling club and a new hotel are some of the other options for the seaside town.
Now that the council has raised the topic, it wants the local people to make their decision.
Paul Rigby, portfolio holder for finance and efficiency at Fylde council, told the newspaper: "We took the decision to create the masterplan as we felt it was a major responsibility of the local authority to guide and encourage high-quality redevelopment."
Nearby Blackpool was recently in the running for the UK's first super-casino, until the government opted not to go ahead with the Las Vegas-style venue.
