The editor of a poker publication is unsure how successful the decision to move the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event final will be.

No-one knows if the decision to move the WSOP main event final table from July to November will work, according to editor-in-chief of PokerPlayer magazine Dave Woods.

If things are successful in the way organisers hope - and the game is sufficiently promoted to a wide mainstream audience - then a November final is likely to be a permanent move, he states.

Mr Woods' comments come after the WSOP decided in May to run its main event final table between November 9th and 10th, despite the line-up being finalised in mid-July.

The hope is that more people will watch the competition and get to know more about the game of poker as a result.

"If it works then the aim is to get poker out into a more mainstream audience and try to build it as a sporting occasion," explained Mr Woods. "We're going to see what happens and sit on the fence basically until November."
