Mecca Bingo in Oldbury has joined the company's Wednesbury numbers game venue in applying for the right to have slots in its property.
Mecca Bingo in Oldbury has applied for a licence that will allow it to install slots in its premises. The Halesowen Road venue has made its move following changes to the Gambling Act, which permit bingo operators to put high-jackpot machines in their buildings, reports the Express Star.
The same news source revealed that Mecca Bingo in Wednesbury made a similar application earlier this month.
At the time, the publication predicted that bingo operators in the midlands were likely to follow the Wednesbury numbers game operator's lead.
Brierley Hill's Mecca hall may soon wish to follow suit. Operations manager at the club Jez Marron recently told the newspaper that visitor numbers to bingo locations are down on expectations.
"We have capacity for 1,300 in the bingo area but we now get only about 550 players," he remarked.
