There has apparently been an upturn in people gambling on welterweight boxing since Ricky Hatton's profile has grown, but people tend to follow the boxer and not the division.
Gambling on boxing follows the individual fighters themselves rather than the separate weight divisions, according to one bookmaker.Coral, which describes itself as "Europe's leading gaming operator", claims that Manchester boxer Ricky Hatton has boosted sports betting in the welterweight class, but the "mass money" does follow the fighter.
Simon Clare, public relations director at Coral, said that boxing is "a very specialised area" for sports betting enthusiasts.
His comments come in the build-up to the WBA Welterweight Championship fight between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito on Saturday night.
The bout takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the heart of America's gambling capital Las Vegas.
