Bikers Fighting Hunger on Poker Run

A group of bikers has been raising money to feed the less well off as part of the Yum! Brands’ first ever ‘Let it Ride Poker Run’.

The event was run in partnership with the Dare to Care Food Bank, and began at the foundation’s headquarters in South Louisville. The bikers rode to the Dare to Care Food Bank Warehouse on Fern Valley, and toured the facility, before collecting the poker cards they would use for the ride.

As part of the event, the bikers played poker at several Yum! Restaurants, with each hand costing $10. The proceeds from the games were donated to the food bank.

Brian Hand, of the Yum! Brands foundation, who proposed the 36 mile ride, said “This is not only a good ride, but a good cause, […] it’s a good reason to get together with your friends and know you’re doing something that is giving back to the community.”

Mr Hand chose the Food Bank as a cause because he felt that people need to pay attention to the needs of the less fourtunate. He said “There are other problems such as homelessness, but feeding a person is just as important.” He added “It was a pretty easy decision. These people are someone’s family, and if you put yourself in their shoes, you can understand why this ride is so helpful.”

It is hoped that this will be the first of many Let it Ride Poker Runs.
