Bingo Caller's Role Explained

Helping bingo players have a fun time is one of the jobs of a successful numbers game caller, it has been suggested.

Bingo callers have a number of different roles to play, according to Nikki Marshall, account executive at Gala Bingo.

As well as calling numbers, bingo callers are apparently tasked with ensuring the numbers game players are having a good time.

Indeed, the best callers regularly become "really important" to those who visit bingo halls up and down the UK, Ms Marshall states.

"There's not any of the lingo that there used to be, it's just the straight numbers, so it's more about the fun they have with the customers," she said.

Visitors to bingo halls are often regulars, which Ms Marshall claims helps foster the feeling that the bingo is the "hub for the community".

Online bingo is also seen as a social activity, with the Bingo Association recently suggesting that chat rooms on internet numbers game sites help replicate the feeling of society felt in land-based venues.
