Bingo does its bit for charity

Bingo staff get wet for charity as Doncaster numbers game hall hosts Whizz-Kidz fundraiser.

A bingo hall in East Laith Gate, Doncaster was the venue for a fundraising event recently, it has emerged.

Mecca Bingo in the South Yorkshire town provided the backdrop to a selection of fun money-raising activities, reports the Doncaster Star.

Staff at the numbers game facility got involved in the proceedings, with many of them getting wet in the name of charity.

The resident caller Shaun Marriott spent much of the night in a bath of baked beans, while fellow employee Dean Armstrong was the human target for bingo players armed with sopping wet sponges.

This Yorkshire club was one of a number of Mecca establishments which spent part of the week bringing in funds for the children's charity Whizz-Kidz.

Fellow bingo group Gala Bingo is also spending the coming months raising money for charity. However, its organisation of choice is Sue Ryder Care.
