Betting firm Ladbrokes claims that celebrity gambling is not that lucrative for bookies or punters.
Betting firm Ladbrokes has stated that it takes "very little" money on celebrity betting, claiming it is not a lucrative market for punters or bookies.Robin Hutchinson, a spokesperson for the company, said that there are reasons why firms like his do continue to provide the markets.
"Bookies price these things up for publicity as much as anything," he remarked this week.
Commenting further, the spokesperson revealed that Ladbrokes started taking novelty bets in the 1960s but "celebrity-inspired ones have really been around for the last five or ten years".
Onlinebettingsite.com claims that a high percentage of internet gambling portals post lines for the punters on most major political and entertainment events.
The last few years have also seen UK consumers be able to place bets on reality television shows such as Big Brother, X-Factor and Pop Idol.
