Little Loyalty Involved In Football Betting

Fans follow the form

Form is more important than allegiance to football betting punters, according to a leading bookmaker.

Loyalty goes out of the window when fans work out their football betting strategies, it has been claimed.

Football fans are expected to indulge in a flurry of gambling as the new Premier League campaign gets underway this weekend.

Many may choose to back their own team at this stage of the season, but Charlie McCann of bookmaker Betdirect predicted that would soon change.

"I think that subjectivity leaves as soon as people see the form of the Premiership and what's going to happen," he claimed.

Champions Manchester United are favourites to win the 2008-09 title with most major UK bookmakers.

The odds setters all seem to regard the Premier League as a two-horse race, with Chelsea the only team likely to challenge the Red Devils.

Punters who choose to ignore the big four will find that Tottenham Hotspur are the favourites to win the also-rans race, although people have also been backing Aston Villa, Everton, Portsmouth and Manchester City to finish fifth.ADNFCR-1691-ID-18733535-ADNFCR
