Poker players from all walks of life due to descend on Sydney over the next three days.
From old-age pensioners to 18-year-old students - that is the range of players scheduled to take part in a weekend-long poker event in Sydney from today.Ridge News reports that people from all kinds of backgrounds will be heading to the Australian city for the 2008 APL Tournament of Champions.
Last year's winner Rodney Davidson walked away with AU$300,000 (£138,000) and those descending on the popular Aussie destination will be looking to replicate his success come Sunday evening.
Indeed, the newspaper claims that the poker tournament gives ordinary folk the opportunity to "beat the cost of living doom and gloom". The publication also labels the Sydney event a poker "extravaganza".
This competition comes as London's Leicester Square prepares to host Poker in the Park - an occasion being dubbed as Europe's biggest poker festival.
