A poker television channel is to stage a series of live action tournaments.
The UK's thriving poker scene is to get a new addition to its crowded tournament schedule next month.Satellite television channel Sky Poker has announced that it is to launch a new six-leg tour, beginning with an event at Nottingham's famous Dusk Till Dawn Card Room on September 13th.
The tour will return to Nottingham next year for a televised £25,000 grand final, which is likely to feature Sky Poker presenters, including Norman Pace and Michelle Orpe.
Unlike most poker tours, direct buy-in is not available and players will have to qualify online.
Emma Crowe, Sky Poker's head of marketing, said the tour is a response to the "incredible demand" for more live events.
"We have hosted a series of one-off live events in the past 12 months, all of which were very popular," added Ms Crowe.
The new circuit will be competing against the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour and Gala Casinos British Poker Tour for players.
