Sports star nicknamed 'Wizard of Oz' will try his hand at poker during Super Bowl week in January 2009.
Baseball legend Ozzie Smith has said being part of the Joyner-Walker Foundation Par and Poker Celebrity Challenge is "very special".The man known to Major League fans as 'Wizard of Oz' during his stints at San Diego Padres and St Louis Cardinals will be appearing at the golf and poker event in January 2009 to help raise money for good causes.
Organisers hope the occasion, which attracts a number of celebrities, can become a regular fixture during Super Bowl week each year.
Commenting on the card game and golf event, Smith said: "Hopefully we can come back nine or ten years from now and talk about how successful it's been."
Taking place on January 29th, the competition will comprise a no-limit Texas hold'em contest and an 18-hole golf championship.
