Bookmaker William Hill claims that if last year's Premier League Player of the Year left Manchester United, the team's odds of winning the championship would be affected.
Premier League title odds would change if Cristiano Ronaldo left his current club Manchester United, which may be of interest to sports betting enthusiasts. At least that is the opinion of William Hill's public relations executive Rupert Adams, who has stated that Ronaldo's departure would affect the champions' chances of retaining their crown.
Throughout the summer, there has been speculation about the Portuguese star's future - with Manchester United claiming the player is going nowhere and the footballer himself not confirming his wishes one way or the other.
Mr Adams has said that the speculation surrounding the 23-year-old player's potential transfer has had an affect on gambling activity already this summer.
"Right now if you look at the outrights, we've taken far more money on Chelsea then we have on Man U and that's presumably based on the fact that no-one knows about Ronaldo or what he's doing," he explained.
Chelsea have signed Portuguese internationals Deco and Jose Bosingwa from Barcelona and FC Porto respectively during the summer.
