Big Poker Tournaments Breed High-Stake Games, Says Expert

Events such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) often have high-stake poker games running alongside them, it has been suggested.

High-stake poker games will be "inevitable" if there are 15 to 20 of the world's top players in the same place and the same time.

At least that is the opinion of PokerPlayer magazine editor Dave Woods, who suggested that these type of contests are often played during the major poker tournaments around the world.

High-stake cash games will frequently start up at events like the WSOP Europe and WSOP Las Vegas, as there are often big-name players in the vicinity.

"I think wherever you get a big tournament you generally get high stake cash games as well, it depends again where the big money players are," said Mr Woods.

Woods' publication PokerPlayer is apparently the UK's biggest-selling magazine focusing on the card game.

It is released each month and offers poker tips and strategies, as well as opinions and features.
