The Commonwealth's Clean Indoor Act comes into force today, prompting casinos to take action.
Pennsylvanian casinos have proved that they are in compliance with new smoking legislation that takes effect today.According to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, the gambling venues across the state meet the requirements of the Commonwealth's Clean Indoor Act.
The new law prohibits smoking in most public places and only allows people to smoke in areas comprising 25 per cent of casino gaming floors.
Acting executive director of the regulator Frank Donaghue said: "At the board's request, each casino has filed an updated gaming floor plan with the Office of Gaming Operations that clearly reflects that no more than 25 per cent of the approved gaming floor permits smoking."
In the UK, a nationwide smoking ban in enclosed public places has had a negative effect on some parts of the gambling industry. A number of bingo operators have complained that their businesses have suffered since the law came in.
