Prestige of Las Vegas as a gambling centre remains high, says Casino Review Magazine.
Nevada entertainment capital Las Vegas remains the focus of poker and gambling in general, according to Casino Review Magazine deputy editor Hugh Sorrill.Sin City, as it is often referred to, retains the prestige it has always had in terms of gambling and betting, he claimed.
Mr Sorrill's comments were in relation to the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which takes place every year at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Vegas. This event is apparently still number one in the eyes of the gambling public, despite the emergence of a European version.
"The European Poker Tour is proving extremely popular both with players and casino operators who are pleased to be able to take part in a very strong competition," said the deputy editor.
But poker players regard making it in the US as more important than getting established in Europe, he added.
The WSOP Europe got underway in London at the weekend. It runs until October 2nd at the Victoria Casino in Leicester Square.
