Jamie Gold - a lucky poker player?

Magazine editor claims that it is hard to predict which poker players will perform well in the forthcoming European Poker Tour.

For poker players to win tournaments they must win a high percentage of 50-50s, according to Alan Bowden, editor of InsidePoker magazine.

This highlights how luck is "one of the major components of success" in poker events around the world.

Mr Bowden claims "so much depends on the turn of a card" that is hard to offer predictions on who will win individual tournaments before the action has started.

"Over the course of a few years, skill wins out massively but, over the course of one tournament, luck is one of the major components of success," he stated.

The editor's comments come in the week before the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe gets underway at Victoria Casino in Leicester Square, London.
