Showbiz and poker collide in a new show to be staged in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas's casino resorts are famed for their lavish stage shows and for poker, but they are usually kept separate.

That is about to change, as from October 22nd The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino will be staging The Real Deal! six nights a week.

The show will combine comedy from host Paul Rodriguez with poker games.

Each night two top poker professionals will test their card playing skills against a group of amateurs, while the audience plays along via electronic terminals.

The show will climax with one of the professionals taking on the leading amateur and audience member for cash prizes of up to $1 million (£560,000).

Any amateurs who fancy their chances of claiming the cash will need to be good, as the pros signed up to appear in the show include poker superstars Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth and Daniel Negreanu.

The theatres at The Venetian are more usually used for putting on musicals such as Phantom and Blue Man Group.
