A woman from Mesa, Arizona has been arrested by the police, who claim that she left her 10 month old baby at home alone, while she went to visit a casino during the middle of the night. The woman, Ada Schwartzmann, aged 33, was arrested when she returned home from the casino.
Diana Tapia, a spokeswoman for the police, said that a close relative who lives next door to the woman awoke at 5 a.m. on Saturday, and notice that Schwartzmann's vehicle was gone. The relative was concerned that the car had been stolen, and when his wife went to investigate, they found Schwartzmann's home unlocked, and the baby crying in a rocking swing with a wet diaper.
Schwartzmann has been arrested on a child abuse charge. According to Diana Tapia, Schwartzmann said she could not sleep, and left for the casino at 3:20 a.m, following an invitation from a friend.
The baby was unhurt, and is now in the care of relatives.
