Both direct and indirect benefits arise from being a regulated gambling region, according to industry group.
Regulated gambling communities receive a "direct monetary benefit" in terms of licensing fees and other procedures, it has been claimed.According to Robin Le Prevost, head of E-Commerce Development for the State of Alderney, there are various indirect benefits of becoming such a region too.
Regulated gambling communities can be put on the 'whitelist' by the British government, which allows them to lawfully advertise gambling services in the UK.
Explaining the indirect positive consequences of such a set-up, Mr Le Prevost said: "[There are] benefits in the technical capabilities we have had to establish in terms of data centres and utilities such as telecommunications and power."
He added that these are "two of the things which e-gambling companies consume in vast quantities".
