The friends and family of the late Thelma Jean “Beanzy” Foote took part in the inaugural “Beanzy” Bingo game to raise money for the Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Company in Daleville earlier this month.
In all, 88 people turned up for the event, which involved bingo, raffles, a silent auction, and refreshments. The event raised more than $2,000 for the fire company.
Beanzy was an avid bingo player, and the event was held in her memory. Beanzy played bingo every week at the firehouse. She was a resident of the Tripp Park section of Scranton, and died of cancer on Sept 12, 2007.
The guests of honour at the event included Frank Foote, her husband of 54 years, and their daughters, accompanied by their spouses – Cherrie and Larry Bentler; Debra and Phillip Colarossi, and Francine and Gary Edmondson.
The event was organised by a committee including friends and family members.
