Joe Navarro has been an FBI agent for 25 years, and is an expert in nonverbal communication. He will be teaching a class on body language and poker ‘tells’ as part of the World Series of Poker Academy.
Navarro is one of six instructors who will be speaking at the World Series of Poker Academy seminar on Nov. 7th and 8th at Caesars Palace. The instructional camp will precede the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event, which is due to begin on Nov. 9th.
Navarro believes that the ability to understand tells can make the difference between winning and losing money for cash-game players, and can give tournament specialists the edge they need to win a championship bracelet.
“I’ve had many professional players in my classes, and they sit there with an interest you would not normally expect to see,” said Navarro. ”They are pros, so you think they would already know everything they need to know. But they are aware that any small edge to a poker player can be invaluable.”
Another speaker on the roster is tournament specialist Phil Gordon, who will be discussing general strategies and styles of play, including aggression, patience, and resilience, and how they apply to playing with a ‘short stack’.
