Football Betting: Becks Backed To Beat Caps Record

Beckham's rumoured move to Italy creates football betting interest.

AC Milan's bid to sign David Beckham on loan has prompted a flurry of activity in football betting markets.

The Italian giants are interested in securing Beckham's services on a temporary basis once his season with Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy finishes this weekend.

With Milan's technical director Leonardo telling BBC Radio 5 Live that negotiations between the two clubs are "going really well", William Hill has cut its odds on Beckham winning a record number of caps for England from 12/1 to 6/1.

The 33-year-old midfielder has played a marginal role as a substitute in recent internationals, leading to suggestions that his days as an England player could be numbered.

However, a move to Serie A could reinforce Beckham's credentials with England manager Fabio Capello, according to William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams.

"He is certainly doing everything in his power to ensure he is match fit. He could go on and on," the betting expert said.

Peter Shilton currently holds the caps record with 125 appearances, while Beckham has played 107 times for his country.
