Hungarians poker is on the up, says European Poker Tour (EPT) website.

Event three of the EPT is in the Hungarian capital of Budapest - the first time the poker series has taken in the eastern European city.

And the EPT website claims that the venue providing the backdrop for the poker event is an "amazing city".

Explaining the format of the tournament, the portal said that the so-called Hungarian Open has a €4,350 (£3,475) buy-in, while satellites on PokerStars have already begun.

There are also a number of local card players, who are apparently starting to make their mark in the poker world.

Richard Toth, Denes Kalo and Valdemar Kwaysser are among those making a "big impact", the site claimed.

"The EPT Hungarian Open ... is likely to prove a huge draw for international players, as well as the growing number of Hungarian poker enthusiasts," it added.

So far, the EPT has taken in Barcelona and London, and it will head to Warsaw in Poland in November.
