Gambling firms are apparently "cash rich", which means the credit crunch does not necessarily affect them.
The e-gambling industry could be recession proof, it has been suggested.According to E-Commerce Development for the State of Alderney, current evidence shows that online gambling is not being adversely affected by the global financial problems.
Everything is "very encouraging" at present, but the situation should be assessed in case things change, said the group's head Robin Le Prevost.
"Obviously the length and depth of this current financial environment could play a part and we will keep watching," he explained.
Mr Le Prevost also went on to say that individual gambling firms are generally "cash rich", which means the credit crunch is not an issue and they can recruit and expand in the manner they wish.
The E-Commerce Development for the State of Alderney department oversees the progress of e-commerce on the Channel Island.
