Daniel Craker clinched a home success for New Zealand at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour's Auckland event.
Daniel Craker saw off competition from 305 opponents to win the Auckland leg of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) on Sunday.The Wellington plasterer defeated Australia's Matthew Konnecke in the heads-up to claim the NZD$257,040 (£89,800) top prize at the end of a nine-hour final table at Auckland's Skycity casino.
Konnecke's runner-up finish in the PokerStars.net sponsored event earned him NZD$162,972, while another New Zealander Wang Che Jung claimed the NZD$85,680 third price.
Afterwards Craker said he was thrilled to have achieved success in the most lucrative poker tournament ever staged in his homeland.
"I felt confident throughout the day though now I have the title I think it will take at least until tomorrow morning for the victory to sink in," he added.
Auckland was the fourth event on the APPT season two calendar and Craker joins Edward Sabat, Nam Le and Yoshihiro Tasaka on the winners' list.
