New Casino Set To Open in Vancouver

New Vancouver casino set to open on November 5th.

The Grand Villa Casino is set to offer gambling enthusiasts in Vancouver another choice of venue next week.

Due to open on November 5th, the property is part of a major development by Canadian operator Gateway Casinos & Entertainment, which plans to add a hotel and conference centre to the site in 2009.

Visitors to Grand Villa will find more than 1,000 slot machines and 50 live gaming tables at the venue, which features an interior design scheme based on a traditional Italian villa, the Vancouver Sun reports.

Dave Gadhia, chief executive officer at Gateway, told the newspaper that the casino's location should help it to attract a steady flow of customers from the Vancouver region.

He explained: "We'll draw people from throughout Greater Vancouver because it's near the highway and so accessible … It's a very visible sight."

The venue will enter into competition with other Vancouver gaming venues such as the Edgewater Casino, which contains more than 500 slot machines spread over a 30,000 sq ft gaming floor.
