Keegan - left Newcastle United last month

Betdirect's Charlie McCann has said that sports betting activity surrounding football managers' jobs comes in "peaks and troughs".

Those who enjoy sports betting tend to put their money on football managers to lose their jobs at certain times.

That is the opinion of Betdirect's head of public relations Charlie McCann, who claimed that when one manager is fired, "masses of bets" are placed on others.

According to the betting expert, football manager punts come in "peaks and troughs" throughout the course of a season.

Mr McCann explained: "There are periods when it really does get quiet and then the next Saturday comes, somebody loses their job and there are masses of bets again."

Alan Curbishley and Kevin Keegan are the only two Premier League managers to have lost their jobs so far this season.

Curbs exited West Ham United and Keegan left Newcastle United with both complaining of too much interference from club directors in team affairs.
