Australian patents for new gaming table products secured by PokerTek.
PokerTek has received seven new innovation patents for its automated card table software in the Australian market, it has been announced.The North Carolina-based firm said that the patents apply to a variety of features from its poker software, including methods for configuring tournaments, using a central console and obscuring players' cards.
Chris Halligan, chief executive officer at PokerTek, said the awards confirm the company's status as a "leading innovator" in the gaming technology market.
He added: "We were first to market with automated poker and have a leadership position today, thanks in part to our fully featured, highly innovative products."
With over 237 PokerPro tables installed in casinos around the world, PokerTek has a presence in the US gaming centres of Las Vegas and Atlantic City, as well the Crown Casino in Australia.
The Melbourne venue contains over 300 table games in total, with tournaments held regularly in the Crown Poker Room.
