Card pros travel to Hungary for EPT poker tournament.
The European Poker Tour (EPT) has said that its first ever event in Hungary is likely to be a sell-out, with more than 500 players already registered.Starting at the capital's Las Vegas Casino today, the 4,350 (£3,475) EPT Budapest tournament will feature a number of homegrown poker pros, as well as players from all over Europe.
Hungary's Valdemar Kwaysser, who won the opening Latin American Poker Tour event in Costa Rica earlier this year, is in the field for this week's tournament, alongside compatriots such as Denes Kalo and Richard Toth.
EPT player of the year Luca Pagano of Italy will also be present, as will the UK's Victoria Coren and Frenchman Bertrand Grospellier, who took down the World Poker Tour's Festa Al Lago in Las Vegas recently.
By making the final table in Budapest this week, Grospellier could potentially move into a commanding position in several player of the year races. A strong finish could also see him take top spot in the EPT's all-time money list.
EPT Budapest runs until November 1st.
