Punters in a North Yorkshire town can now bet on sports and at the card table at the same venue.
A Scarborough casino has become the first in the UK to open its own betting shop. The Opera House has spent £200,000 on the facility, which features banks of television screens showing Sky Sports and specialist horse racing channels.
It was opened at the weekend by world-famous poker professional Dave Ulliott, who described the shop as "a lovely place".
The casino's operations director Rob Coldham told the Scarborough Evening News he is confident the unique combination of bookmaker and casino will attract North Yorkshire's gamblers.
"We view Opera House Bet very much as an extension of the casino's facilities with new opportunities. A lot of time and hard work has been put into ensuring everything is just right," he said.
Punters not excited by the thought of investing on the turf will find there are plenty of chances to bet at the felt at The Opera House.
It is home to blackjack, American roulette, Texas hold'em, stud poker and three-card poker tables, as well as a variety of slots.
