WPT and MySpace to launch online poker service for social networking users.
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has joined forces with internet giant MySpace to create a new service for online card players.Aimed at both "poker die-hards and casual fans alike", the MySpace WPT community will provide tips from experts, player profiles, video clips and behind-the-scenes footage from WPT events.
The social networking portal will also offer a free multi-player game in which MySpace users can test their online poker skills against fellow members.
Angela Courtin, senior vice president of marketing, entertainment and content for MySpace, said that the new offering would provide "an easy and fun way for users to play poker with friends on MySpace".
Commenting on the similarities between his organisation and MySpace, WPT president Steve Liscomb stated: "Poker and social networking have separately reached and engaged people around the world in ways like nothing we've seen before."
The WPT is currently at the famous Bellagio casino in Las Vegas, where the Festa Al Lago event is taking place. Antonio Esfandiari was chip leader after day one with 313,000.
