Big jackpot for bingo newcomer at Gala Bingo

A novice bingo player is celebrating this week after winning over £300,000 on the numbers game.

The 42-year-old woman, who has asked not to be named, had only played bingo twice before when she struck lucky at Gala Bingo in Brighton on Friday (November 28th), the Argus reports.

She paid £2.50 for a ticket but ended up with more than £300,000 after winning on Gala's High 5 game, which means that every player in the venue is also awarded a share of the winnings.

Thanks to the woman's good fortune, 239 other bingo players left the club with £1,265 each as the total jackpot was over £700,000.

Commenting on the win, Gala Bingo assistant manager Paul Morgan said: "Everything went quiet for a minute and then the whole place erupted.

"The winner was sitting right at the back of the hall and she couldn't move from her seat for about 20 minutes."

Gala Bingo operates 170 clubs throughout the UK.
