Gambling portals of Antigua and Barbuda get go-ahead for British advertising.

Online gambling operators based in Antigua and Barbuda have been given permission to advertise their services in the UK.

In a move which is likely to increase competition in the British market, the government licensed the advertising of companies from Antigua and Barbuda after the Caribbean country improved regulation of its gaming industry.

From November 21st, gambling firms based in the country will be legally allowed to advertise to UK customers.

"We look forward to the expansion opportunities that this provides for our current licensees and to welcoming other, select first-rate remote gambling brands to the jurisdiction," commented L Errol Cort, Antiguan minister of finance and the economy.

Gambling companies with licences in the country include Helix Gaming International and EHG.

Antigua provided the venue for last week's Stanford Super Series, in which England's cricket team missed out on a $20 million payday by losing to the Stanford Superstars, a side sponsored by Texan billionaire Sir Allen Stanford.
