The former owner of the Lucky Chances Casino in Colma, San Francisco will face jail time, on charges of tax evasion.

A judge has made a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, ordering the former casino owner Rene Medina to serve 15 months in prison after he pleaded guilty in October of last year to income tax evasion charges.

As part of the agreement, Medina admitted to evading paying taxes between 1999 and 2001, by having the casino make payments for personal expenses and fictitious business expenses of more than $1 million.

Medina has since paid back approximately $1 million in taxes to the government. He will begin serving his sentence in January.
