Football Betting: Punters Back England For Unbeaten Run

Capello's England on winning streak

New bets taken on England at football betting firms.

Many gamblers are backing England to remain unbeaten for their next eight games following the 2-1 victory over Germany in Berlin on Wednesday (November 19th).

That result means that Fabio Capello's side end 2008 with a run of five consecutive victories and have lost just once since the Italian took over in January.

At William Hill, punters can get odds of 5/6 that England will stay unbeaten for their next eight games, with matches against Slovakia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan to come in the new year.

Spokesperson for the betting firm Graham Sharpe said: "It is some considerable time since we were able to open a book on the next England defeat."

Commenting on his team's recent performances after the Germany game, Capello stated: "I think it is impossible to be better than this.

"We have played ten games and after every one I said the players had taken another step forward."

William Hill now prices England at 9/1 to win the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, making them fourth favourites behind Brazil, Argentina and Spain.
