Footballer Backs Charity Casino Night in Newcastle

Newcastle goalkeeper endorses charity gambling night in north-east.

Shay Given has encouraged north-east residents to indulge in some Las Vegas-style glamour at a special casino night next month.

The Newcastle United goalkeeper is supporting Las Vegas in the Toon, a charity gambling event taking place at St James' Park on December 8th.

According to the Evening Chronicle, the evening will feature live gaming tables, roulette wheels, a champagne reception and the chance to meet Newcastle players.

There will also be a charity auction and a performance from soul star Beverley Knight.

Given told the newspaper: "I've been involved in putting on some great nights at St James' Park and the Las Vegas in the Toon event will be another cracking occasion.

"I hope people can have a bit of fun – and luck on the tables – to raise funds for worthy causes."

The event will generate money for charities such as the Newcastle United Foundation, the Shay Given Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Newcastle climbed to 14th in the Premier League following a 2-0 win over Aston Villa at St James' Park last night (November 3rd).
