The inventor of the hole card cam, used to display hole cards in poker tournaments to television audiences, will be entered into the Poker Hall of Fame this November.

World Series of Poker officials have announced that the inventor, Henry Orenstein, will receive his honours during the Main Event final table, to be held in Las Vegas on the 9th of November.

The hole card camera was invented to make it easier for viewers to follow televised tournaments, and help commentators to analyze play by being able to see the cards that are not visible to opponents during play.

Henry Orenstein, of Verona, New Jersey, is also the creator of the Transformers line of toys.

Other Poker Hall of Fame initiations this year include Duane ‘Dewey’ Tomko, who will see honors for his 35 year long, and still continuing, streak of participation in the Texas Hold’em Main Event.

Tomko is a former kindergarten teacher, and has so far accrued $2.6 million in winnings at the World Series of Poker.
