Canadian poker favourite Negreanu wins CA$371,910
Daniel Negreanu emerged the winner of the fourth annual British Columbia Poker Championships, it has been revealed.The tournament was held at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia, and was contested by 690 players.
Negreanu's win guarantees him a cool CA$371,910, although he said the CA$2,500 no-limit hold'em contest was about more than just the money.
"Being Canadian myself, playing and winning the BC Poker Championships is extra special to me," he commented.
"The tournament was extremely well organised and my opponents were very good. It may have been a smaller tournament but I would say this has been the best $2500 buy-in event structure I've ever played."
Negreanu beat Adam Croffut into second place, with Warren Russell ranked third, Vorakbotgh Eam fourth, Vincenzo Abate fifth and Tyler Patterson sixth.
Other notable players at the tournament included Brad 'Yukon' Booth, Gavin Smith, Lacey Jones, Gabe Kaplan, Isabelle Mercier, Liz Lieu, Tiffany Michelle and Maria Ho.
Negreanu is currently second on the all-time money list to Jamie Gold.
