Amateur poker champion explains benefits of 'taking it slow'.
Amateur poker player Brian Clarke has claimed that his recent success at the card table is based on a patient approach. The Scotsman, who took down the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) event in Blackpool on Sunday (November 16th), explained how he defeated Zachary Ford to clinch the £96,500 first prize.
Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette this week, he said that other players could emulate his achievement by taking it slow during big hands.
"My advice to poker players would to be patient, take it slow and stay absolutely focused," Clarke stated.
"I try not to react to anything until the game is over."
Clarke outlasted a field of 341 at Blackpool's G Casino and defeated Ford in heads-up play, despite trailing in the chip count as the final table neared its climax.
The main event of GUKPT Grand Final gets underway at London's Grosvenor Victoria Casino on Thursday November 27th.
