Electronic Arts has teamed up with the makers of the For Dummies series of books to create games for video game novices.

The first in the series is ‘Poker for Dummies, featuring Texas Hold’em’ which will teach PC gamers how to become poker sharks, starting with how to play the game, then moving on to table etiquette, and advanced poker strategies. Between each chapter, players will be presented with a quiz to test their understanding of the concepts covered in the previous chapter.

The game features tutorials, quizzes, a practice mode, and several variations of poker games including Texas Hold’em, Omaha style poker, and Seven Card Stud.

Poker For Dummies is rated ‘T for Teen’, so even younger players will be able to try the game out. It will be released for PC only, at a relatively low price of $20. There are several other titles planned in the Games for Dummies series, with two other games available right now –  ‘Brain Training’ on the PC and a Nintendo DS title called ‘Travel Games’.

For gamers looking for a more typical gaming fix, Electronic Arts has also just released ‘Tomb Raider Underworld’ – the eighth instalment in Lara Croft’s adventures.
