Poker players go heads-up for WSOP title.
Russia's Ivan Demidov and Peter Eastgate of Denmark are the two remaining contestants at the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event.The 'November nine' was reduced to two early on Monday (November 10th) morning, when US player Dennis Phillips was eliminated at the end of an eight-hour playing session at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Phillips pocketed $4.5 million for third place, leaving Demidov and Eastgate to battle it out heads-up for $9 million and the poker world's most prestigious prize.
Before the elimination of Phillips, former chess pro Ylon Schwartz exited in fourth place to claim $3.77 million.
The 38-year-old New Yorker was sent out after being caught in a bluff by Eastgate.
Going into the final session, the Dane leads with 79.5 million chips while Demidov holds 57.725 million.
Eastgate is just 22 years old and will surpass Phil Hellmuth as the youngest ever winner of the WSOP main event if he can defeat Demidov.
