The World Series of Poker Main Event concluded today, and the final can be seen on ESPN. The telecast will start at 8PM, and the final table play will begin at 9PM.

The World Series of Poker Main Event tournament saw a huge number of entrants, with 6,844 players signing up in July. The field was quickly whittled down to the final nine, and play resumed earlier this week in Las Vegas.

The result, for those who are unable to watch the play tonight, was that Denmark’s Peter Eastgate became the youngest World Series of Poker Main Event champion in history, at the age of 22. He beat Russian Ivan Demidov, aged 27, to take home the $9.1 million prize. Demidov took home $5.8 million as a consolation prize.

Before Eastgate’s victory, the title of Youngest Main Event champion belonged to poker pro Phil Hellmuth, who was aged just 24 when he won the tournament in 1989.

Eastgate took the victory with a wheel straight, beating the two pair (2s and 4s) held by Demidov.

Third place went to Dennis Phillips, a 53 year old trucking account manager from St. Louis. Phillips went away with $4.5 million in prize money.
