Amit Makhija, who goes by the online name of Amak316, has taken the top prize in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series X No Limit Holdem Tournament. The 2 day tournament, event no 22, had a $5,000 + $200 buy-in and attracted a field of 500 players.
The tournament was played six-handed, adding an extra dimension of challenge compared to most other large buy-in events.
The total prize pool for the event was $2.5 million, with $550,000 reserved for the winner.
The tournament was hosted by Craig Marquis, who was one of the ‘November Nine’. Marquis also took part in the tournament, and performed well, finishing in 24th place and getting a $200 rakeback bonus as well as $17,500 in prize money. Pro poker players David Pham (The Dragon) and Brandon Adams also performed well, with both players taking cash prizes, and Adams making it to the final table before busting out. Adams took home a prize of $57,500.
Makhija defeated a star studded final table, and came out on two in the heads up play against online player KaKeTKa to take home the top prize – his third six figure cash prize this year. Makhija has won more than $1,2000,000 this year from tournaments including the World Series of Poker.
