The Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa has announced the details of its fourth annual Borgata Winter Poker Open.
The tournament, which is due to start on January 13th, 2009, will run for 17 days, and will finish with the Borgata Championship Event, a five-day long main event which will run from January 25th to January 29th.
The tournament follows the company’s Poker Open, which ran in September, and offered the largest guaranteed prize pool ever put forward by a casino-hotel. This time around, Borgata will again raise the bar by offering players a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million in the Winter Open Championship event, which has a $3,000 buy-in + $200 entry.
Ray Stefanelli, Director of Poker Marketing for Borgata, said “This year's Winter Poker Open will offer a broad range of events to appeal to our customers, and for the first time in a seasonal event, Borgata will offer players a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million in the Championship Event. We are confident that our 2009 WPO will attract both loyal and new players, and continue to position Borgata as the preeminent destination for poker on the East Coast."
The Championship Event will have two starting days and 50,000 in chips. There will be a total of 46 events, including Deep Stack tournaments, Ladies Limit, Senior Events, and Omaha High and Pot Limit events.
