Casino operator bidding to develop new Hull venue
A leisure operator has unveiled plans for a major new gambling venue in Hull.Last month, city councillors gave planning permission of the Manor Hill development, which includes a 23-storey apartment block, a 185-room hotel and student accommodation buildings.
The site also contains space for a three-storey gaming venue, with Apollo Casino Resorts now publicly stating its interest in placing a new casino within the development, the Hull Daily Mail reports.
Paul Gregg, chairman of Apollo Resorts and Leisure, described the plan as "an exciting opportunity for Hull".
He said: "We have looked at a number of other cities and a number of other sites in Hull but believe this is the most appropriate."
Apollo will now have to gain permission to run the casino from Hull city council, although its claim that the venue would bring 1,000 new jobs to the area is likely to improve its chances of success.
The firm is a result of a partnership between Apollo Resorts and Leisure and Casinos Austria International, the largest casino operator in Europe.
